BUY = you're betting the price goes up. You profit if it rises, lose if it falls. SELL = the reverse — you profit if the price falls.

Pip = the smallest standard price move traders talk in. For most pairs here (EUR/USD, GBP/USD) it's the 4th decimal — 1.0850 → 1.0851 is 1 pip. USD/JPY uses the 2nd decimal instead. Gold and the index CFDs (US30, NAS100) don't really use "pips" — traders call their smallest tick a point instead, same idea.

Lots = how big your bet is. 1.00 lot on EUR/USD moves your P/L by about $10 per pip. Bigger lots = bigger swings both ways — start small (0.10–0.50) until you get a feel for it. The live preview under the order form below shows the exact pip value and $ risk for whatever you're about to place.

Market order = executes right now at today's price. Limit/Stop order = sits waiting and only fires if the price reaches the trigger you set — useful for "buy it if it dips to X" without watching the screen.

Stop loss / take profit — optional, but set one on every trade until you have real discipline built up. A stop loss automatically closes the trade if price moves against you past a level you pick, capping how much any single trade can cost you. A take profit does the mirror opposite — locks in gains once price hits your target. Both fields are on the order form below, and you can add or change them on any open position afterward too.

Leverage & margin — you don't pay the full value of a trade upfront. A $25,000 account can control a much bigger position because the broker only "locks up" a fraction of it as margin (how much depends on leverage — 100:1 on FX pairs here means $1 of margin controls $100 of position). Free margin is what's left over to absorb losses or open new trades. If your losses eat into it enough that your margin level (equity ÷ margin used) drops to 50%, every open position gets force-closed automatically — a margin call. This is a separate failure mode from the two below: it can happen even before you'd technically breach the drawdown floor, if you're holding a lot of margin across several trades at once.

Daily loss / Max drawdown are your two other ways to fail the challenge. Losing too much in one day breaches the daily line; losing too much overall (even slowly) breaches the drawdown floor. All three failure modes — daily loss, max drawdown, margin call — force-close everything and end the challenge. There's no coming back from a breach on this account.

Goal: grow the account balance by the profit target shown below while staying above both floors, for at least 3 trading days.
